Nancy Apple has been writing songs since she was 12 years old, but her first professional entrance into the music business was as an album cover designer and stage hand. By the mid 80s she was playing drums with blues legend Willie Cobbs, eventually switching back to her first instrument, the guitar, and fronting her own band.
40 years plus into her career, Nancy Apple has been named an Emissary of Memphis music and continues to link the spirit of Sun with the soul Stax. Throw in a lot of dirt and gravel roads, open skies and thunder. Twist that up with asphalt, broke down cars and the sweat of Delta cotton farmers.
